Those Silent Departures!
Which memories bring smiles to our faces?
Which moments do we always cherish and want to relive?
Which experiences are we always ready to share with others?
Do you think I have gone nuts or have lost my mind or something? So, Let’s break the ice, and the immediate answer is I am sane with a normal working brain. Just that, I got pricked by a gush of emotions while I was going through my phone’s gallery. I had two significant epiphanies and thought to share them here. I am sure you would have felt these two at some point in time in your lives.
The first epiphany answers all the three questions I asked at the start. We all like to capture happy memories with those smiling faces, which we not only cherish but also love to share with others as our tales. We never keep a bad memory in our conscious mind though they exist in our subconscious memory and trigger us whenever a similar event comes up. That gallery tells us how glittery and glamorous our lives were. We were full of life, no stress and those smiling faces remind us of the bond we shared with those people.
The second epiphany was that with time and as we grow up, the moments captured always have smiling faces, just that not all faces are the same. They keep changing and evolving as we thrive in our lives. Of course, few faces would always be the same, and that’s what we call our constants, probably with whom our bonds have only gone stronger with advancement.
But what about the other faces, who only exist in those pictures but nowhere in our lives today?
I know that as per studies, a human brain can only remember and recognize only 5000 faces in a lifetime. And we meet many more amounts of faces than the number we can register. Logically, that’s fair, and we will forego many faces at each turn of our life. But this writeup is not for all those faces, but it is for those few faces which appear, give you back plenty of memories, both good and bad. Those faces push you around and force you to rewind all those moments you have spent with them.
Today you might be reminiscing the old-time or laughing off the trivial mistakes, but back then, they looked like serious life problems. Sometimes in our lives, they were our priority, and we have given the utmost attention, care, and peace of mind. Their opinions and thoughts mattered to us. We had an emotional connection and attachment; we wanted them to stay with us forever in our lives. Then, life happened, and we didn’t even realize when such faces started to disappear. Nothing said and done, just that our paths diverged, and we went ahead on them happily.
I am sure while reading this; a few faces would flash in your head who you eagerly wanted to stay. You took time to get over those departures, and maybe if those faces today appear in front of you, you will be ready to take a step and reconcile the connection. You probably couldn’t find a reason back then for why did they leave. You have always imagined that no matter whatever happens between us, the end goal would always be cheerful. You have put in efforts, time, and everything, but still, they chose to leave without any explanation. But my advice is, please don’t be depressed or sad about it; it’s okay. I know we all move ahead in our lives after a point in time, but these feelings cling to us. We often get scared or cautious with our future relations; that’s also fine. All that matters is to acknowledge these silent departures.
It is often said that few people enter your life to teach you a new way of leading life. This statement holds some relevance, and that’s why there are such silent departures from our lives. People who enter to make a particular phase of life crazy, meaningful, and fun.
Sometimes people leave, but their memory stays with us. And I can’t think of a better line said by Maya Angelou to end this article “We forget the people, their faces, what did they do but we never forget how they made us feel.” Feelings are something we can never delineate from ourselves. All we can do is to smile and keep learning from those feelings as they give us the strength to move ahead. Bless and wish good for all those silent departures!!
Our loved ones that we have lost during this tough time that we all have been through, always want to see a smile on our faces showering their love, blessings and protecting us from all the negative aura around us.
