Communicate or Not to Communicate? (Part-2)
Do you think reserving your thoughts does more harm than giving you a solution/ closure?
Remember, we were talking about this girl who provided unfavorable feedback of his lead to the mentor. Though that mentor understood her problem, really didn’t come up with an instant solution. That girl was happy that she was heard but she was disheartened at the thought that she wasn’t provided with a suitable solution. She started looking out for new opportunities while also was hoping for a resolution at least to come up from the mentor’s side. She kept diligently working with the previous lead, putting efforts to ensure that she keeps her learning and positive attitude intact.
Looks like her perseverance and patience were getting tested until one fine day, she got a mail from HR. It said that your team and product have been changed. The contentment, happiness, and satisfaction that girl had would be unimaginable. A small victory over the notion that you are not heard in the organization or that Indian corporate culture myth, everything few into the air like a balloon. The bubble has burst and new dawn with a clear sky appeared. Well, we agree that you can’t always mend your equation with people, but what you can do is take a step to change your path. All that is essential is a good space that everyone wants to grow in. I think this girl got that and has embarked on a new journey with a new lead and the same mentor. This conclusion might be an inspiration for many of those who always think of mending their professional stuck-ups but often get held back by negative thoughts.
Yet again, the truth is established that unless you communicate and take the first step towards solving your problem, it won’t get resolved all by itself. Today, our overthinking doesn’t let us speak freely about what’s bothering our minds. This is so uncommon that we don’t know what would happen with that 1 out of 10 individuals, who gathers the courage to not only speak but also plunge to seek closure on a particular matter.
As big thought leaders have always quoted: “if you don’t ask, the answer is always NO”. You have to be the initiator if you want to change the world or even pivot a circumstance around you.
